Art Nouveau Mansion-Apartment
Striking patterns meet period grandeur in this stunning restoration
The Project
This prestigious restoration of an original Art Nouveau mansion-apartment within the landmark Balluta Buildings in St Julian’s, Malta honours one of the island’s most iconic properties.
The 1920s Grade 2 scheduled building demanded meticulous attention to heritage details whilst creating contemporary comfort. Original features like decorative columns and period ceiling mouldings create the perfect backdrop to introduce bold pattern mixing across floors and furnishings with the building’s inherent elegance. We retained the property’s original terrazzo floor tiles, pairing them with oak panelling and luxurious pastel textiles.
Throughout the space, thoughtful details elevate daily rituals – from white curtains layered with pink sheers that cast warm glows, to a visually arresting Moroccan-inspired spa wetroom that offers an indulgent escape. Every room honours the property’s historical integrity, balancing heritage grandeur with contemporary comfort.
